New Update for Extensis Universal Type Server Makes Font Distribution up to 27 Times Faster
PORTLAND, Ore. — March 18, 2014 —Extensis released today a new update for Universal Type Server® 4, the professional font server which helps organizations manage, organize, and distribute their font libraries. This update gives the creative workflow a dramatic boost with the new TurboSync™ feature, making font distribution up to 27 times faster than before. In addition to server performance enhancements, the update includes new client features that increase productivity and offer design inspiration, including new Extensis Font Panels for Adobe® Creative Suite® and Creative Cloud® applications, Fontspiration™, and double the QuickComp™ design templates.
Available for immediate download, the new features include:
- TurboSync Font Replication- Accelerated server synchronization speed and performance improvements make this version now up to 27 times faster than before.
- Powerful, industry-leading Font Panels – Universal Type Server now offers designers unrivaled font management productivity directly within their creative applications. Within Adobe Creative Suite 6 and Creative Cloud applications, designers using InDesign®, Illustrator or Photoshop can enjoy the flexibility of selecting and organizing their fonts without having to leave their most familiar design environments. With a single-click, designers activate the fonts they need while visually identifying them through easy-to-use WYSIWYG font panels.
- Fontspiration- Introduced recently in Suitcase Fusion 5, the new Fontspiration panel gives designers a window into the latest in typographic trends, as well as cutting edge designs of the past, present and future. With the panel now available for Universal Type Server 4, designers can locate new and interesting fonts for their creative work, see what other creative pros are using in real-world projects, and explore the boundaries of lettering, typography and fonts in design.
- Double the QuickComp Templates- Introduced in Universal Type Server 4, QuickComp enables designers to quickly experiment and pair typefaces without having to activate their whole font collection or bounce between applications and version documents repeatedly. With QuickComp, designers can experiment with headline and body copy pairings side-by-side in print or web templates directly in Universal Type Server 4. Samples can be saved to PDF font proofs for easy sharing. Based on user feedback, Extensis has now doubled the library of QuickComp templates, giving designers more options to get started quickly.
