Extensis Brings Auto-Keywording, Support for GeoSpatial Files, and More to Digital Asset Management

Today Extensis® released an update to its digital asset management system – Extensis Portfolio® 2016 – that automates critical functions of DAM and enables users to realize maximum productivity and value.

Portfolio Smart Keywords is an all-new add-on module that streamlines and accelerates the keywording process. Smart Keywords is powered by Clarifai, an innovative and industry-leading artificial intelligence company that excels in visual recognition. With two simple clicks a list of “smart” keywords are automatically delivered, dramatically reducing the amount of time spent manually assigning keywords.

“Keywords are the underpinning of what make digital asset management solutions effective. Without them, you just have a sea of files,” said Toby Martin, Vice President of Development & Strategy at Extensis. “By automating keywording, companies will be able to maximize their DAM and find the files they need in the moment they need them.”

Matthew Zeiler, founder & CEO of Clarifai, noted: “Digital Asset Management is the perfect application for Clarifai’s powerful visual recognition technology—it’s all about identifying the characteristics of an image and then categorizing it appropriately.”

Portfolio 2016 also introduces support for geospatial files, leveraging the industry leading MrSID® compression technology from LizardTech®. MrSID compresses huge images so users can easily catalog, preview, and thumbnail them.

In addition to geospatial file support for MrSID, Portfolio 2016 includes the ability to catalog metadata for files with geospatial referencing information such as longitude and latitude. This information is commonly included in digital files, such as photos taken on an iPhone.

In addition to the new Smart Keywords module and geospatial support, Portfolio 2016 adds:

  • 360 Photo and Video format support for Portfolio NetPublish®: NetPublish helps users easily create an online portal to share assets with anyone, anywhere. With 360file format support, users can capture and share a full panoramic experience in several new formats.
  • Asset Reporting: New Logi Reports provide keyword statistics to ensure proper keywords are being used, in addition to other reporting updates and improvements.
  • Creative Workflow Improvements: Portfolio 2016 adds new notifications which automatically alert administrators and users of key updates, such as the success or failure of backup and restore, and updates when changes have been made to public galleries.
