Extensis WebINK Sponsors Webvisionary Awards; Robot Overlords Vow Revenge!
PORTLAND, Ore. – September 5, 2012 – Extensis® today issued a challenge to Web developers and designers to submit their best use of fonts as a key element of design. The challenge concludes with the winners incurring the wrath of the Robot Overlords…and taking home a miniature robot trophy!
Extensis’ leading web font service- WebINK® – is a key sponsor of the Webvisionary Awards, which will be held at the Fez Ballroom on October 8, 2013. The Webvisionary Awards is presented by WebVisions, an internationally recognized conference that explores the future of the Web. The awards gala is one of the featured events at Design Week Portland, a week-long exploration of the process, craft and practice of design across disciplines, held in venues throughout Portland, Oregon from October 7-12, 2013.
In its sixth year, the Webvisionary Awards celebrates the most imaginative, daring and curious talent on the Web. Participants can enter their work for a spectrum of categories, including an award titled “Fantastic Typographic,” honoring the best use of fonts as a key element of the design (with bonus points for web font technology).
“The Robot Overlords have been busy building a massive complex of arenas to train weakling human thralls to fight for their amusement. Only the most ingenious humans will be spared the collars of obedience. Well, that’s what they claim in their press release,” says Brad Smith, founder of the Webvisionary Awards and the FTHFREF (Free the Humans from Robot Enslavement Foundation).
“WebINK is a huge advocate of Web designers and developers who are bold in their approach to Web design,” says Amanda Paull, Extensis Vice President of Marketing. “WebVisions and the Webvisionary Awards are on the cutting edge of Web design trends, and we look forward to connecting with attendees to discuss the current state and future of Web fonts, and honoring those who are the most bold and imaginative.”
Entries for the Webvisionary Awards, a showcase of visionary work by the nation’s top web designers, digital artists, advertising agencies, technologists, public relations firms, social media experts, mobile application developers and digital innovators, are now being accepted at http://www.webvisionaryawards.com/.
Organizations and individuals are challenged to submit published, personal or prototype projects created between September 1, 2012 to August 31, 2013. Entry fees for the competition are $25 per project and the deadline for submissions is 5:00p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Friday, September 20, 2013. Award winners will be named at the Webvisionary Awards Show at the Fez Ballroom at 316 Southwest 11th Avenue in downtown Portland on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.
