How to uninstall Universal Type Server
Description
This article explains how to uninstall Universal Type Server on MacOS X and Windows.
Solution
Uninstalling Universal Type Server removes all of the Type Server application files, but leaves your font repository and any backup files on the server. These can be manually deleted if necessary.
Follow the instructions below to uninstall UTS on Mac or Windows.
MacOS X:
- In the Finder, go to:
/Applications/Extensis/Universal Type Server/applications/ - Launch the Universal Type Server Uninstaller.pkg
- Follow the prompts and it will uninstall UTS
- The uninstaller will leave behind your UTS database and font vault. If you want to get rid of the remaining files and folders, simply drag the
/Applications/Extensis/Universal Type Serverfolder to the trash.
NOTE: Your font repository and backup files may be in a custom location. You can delete these files if you no longer need them.
Windows:
- To remove the Universal Type Server application on Windows Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2:
- Choose ‘Start > Control Panel’
- Click on ‘Programs and Features’
- Select ‘Universal Type Server’
- Click on ‘Uninstall’
- To remove the font repository and backup files from the default installation location, delete all files from the directory
...\Program Files\Extensis\Universal Type Server\
NOTE: Your font repository and backup files may be in a custom location. You can delete these files if you no longer need them.
- To remove the Universal Type Server application on Windows Server 2003:
- Choose ‘Start > Control Panel’
- Double-click on ‘Add/Remove Programs’
- In the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ window, select ‘Universal Type Server’, then click the ‘Remove’ button
- Follow the instructions on screen to remove Universal Type Server
- To remove the font repository and backup files from the default installation location, delete all files from the directory …\Program Files/Extensis\Universal Type Server\.
