What's New
The following describes some of the highlights of this version of Suitcase for Windows.

Font Sense professional font identification

The exclusive Font Sense technology provides absolute font fidelity when automatically activating fonts by delving deeper into the font. Using information from the database about each font’s type, version, foundry, kerning information, and more, Font Sense records this information with documents and uses it for precision automatic activation. As documents are opened, fonts are activated for the document and graphics in supported file formats (Font Sense information can be stored with Illustrator EPS files and PDF files generated from Illustrator and InDesign). Using the right fonts prevents text reflow that can result in costly printing mistakes, not to mention cause hours of confusion and frustration. Suitcase for Windows provides this professional font identification through Font Sense plug-ins for high-end publishing applications (InDesign CS2, Illustrator CS2, and QuarkXPress 7).

Font Vault

Suitcase for Windows lets users decide how to manage their fonts. If users want to keep them in place, we continue to support this option. For those looking for the most powerful font management available, the Font Vault is a managed repository that integrates with the Suitcase for Windows database and makes font management predictable and reliable—especially when users have multiple versions of fonts with the same PostScript name. The Font Vault utilizes the Font Sense technology to allow true font identification and professional duplicate font management.

Vista compatibility

Suitcase for Windows has been fully upgraded and tested with the newest Microsoft Windows operating system, Vista. For users who work in a Microsoft Windows environment, Suitcase for Windows provides consistent and reliable font management.

Known issues
The following issues are known, but have not yet been addressed in this version of Suitcase for Windows. The list is intended to cite the most serious problems known. It is not an exhaustive list of all known problems.

ID Description
27785 In Adobe Illustrator, when a file is saved as an Illustrator CS2 Template (AIT) file, Font Sense information about the currently active fonts is currently not recorded in the AIT file.
27795 In some cases, InDesign CS2 may consider a TrueType font to be missing even if the same-same named PostScript type 1 font is activated (and visa versa).
28043 When previewing certain fonts in the Preview pane, sometimes the last few lines of text are not properly displayed.
28762 In QuarkXPress, if a document contains duplicate fonts in normal text areas as well as the same fonts in external composition zones, two missing font dialogs are displayed.
26504 Suitcase may report a font as missing in QuarkXPress, even if an exact match is present. This occurs if there are duplicate fonts stored in the Suitcase database and the document being opened contains no Font Sense data, and the "Pick Best Match when Original is Missing" option is disabled in the Suitcase Quark XTension.
28643 In the Preview pane, some fonts may not be displayed properly and can have overlapping characters.
