Additional formats for Batch Convert and Email

Portfolio now allows you to Batch Convert from Camera Raw and DNG files. You can also email converted copies of these file formats.

Improved Adobe DNG file support

Portfolio will display the preview embedded in the DNG file if it is present, so that any color adjustments applied to the image are displayed properly in the preview.

You should save DNG files with the full-size JPEG preview for fast rendering and best output.

XMP metadata embedding

Portfolio supports embedding XMP metadata in DNG files using the Embed Properties command.

Support for new digital camera Raw formats

Portfolio 8.5.5 has been updated to incorporate version 8.99 of the open source DCRaw library into a plug-in. This version of the library adds support for many newer camera models. For a complete list of supported cameras, see this page.

What’s new in Portfolio 8.5.2

Preview file optimization

When Portfolio creates preview files of cataloged images, the previews are now organized into a subfolder hierarchy within the preview directory. This organization helps speed the cataloging and access of images. Due to this change, all versions of Portfolio that are used to connect and access assets in Portfolio catalogs must be Portfolio 8.5.2 or greater. Using any earlier client or server can result in missing preview files.

Large catalog performance improvements

A number of performance improvements were added to this release that improve performance with large catalogs of 100,000 items or more. These improvements address opening catalogs, using the collect command, importing and exporting field values as well as working with assets across multiple catalogs.

What’s new in Portfolio 8.5.1

Save Catalog Types

Portfolio can now save custom Catalog Types, using the current catalog’s settings.

Improved XMP metadata support

Portfolio has been updated to use the Adobe® XMP Toolkit v4.1.1, offering improvements for both extracting and embedding XMP metadata.

Collect for Output improvements

When collecting files for output, Portfolio checks for any missing original files before collecting the files. If there are any missing files, Portfolio only warns you once before proceeding. At the end of the collection process, any missing files are displayed in a scratchpad gallery so that you are able to locate the original files.

  • Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III
  • Canon EOS 40D
  • Canon PowerShot G9
